20 1/4″9 lbs 5oz Amazingly–after being 2 weeks late–covered in vernix! Breastfeeding wonderfully. Mom did great! (Although it did interrupt American Idol…)
Now at about 9cm, good position, and mom and baby doing well…should be ready to deliver right about the time American Idol finishes…and yes, we are watching.
Josh has arrived!!
9:32….daddy was able to mostly deliver after some initial checking by the doctor. He’s doing great. Pics and measurements shortly!
JoAnn’s blood pressure dropped a bit…and then Josh had some cord compression….so we had a bit of a scare there, but all’s well now. Docs on her way back in, and looks like we may be delivering soon…
At about 6cm now; about to start the actual amni-infusion. Baby doing well, mom doing relatively ok…
Has been some progress as the pitocin is slowly ratcheted up…the contractions have increased in strength and frequency, but because it is pitocin, they’re also a little erratic and more painful, so we’re about to do the epidural after all so she can make it through this. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts everyone!
JoAnn had to move at one point, and the monitor for the contractions wasn’t secured–she was just laying on it. So I picked it up, put on my tummy, and then flexed…and got a big contraction…bigger than hers. But not nearly as long.
And it has begun…
IV FINALLY in…and petocin started; started on low level, and will gradually increase as needed. And soon I’ll finally eat real food and have coffee…I did scavenge off the remains of JoAnn’s hospital food. (BTW, surprisingly good).
More good news
JoAnn gets to eat! Yay! Will be getting IV set soon, and after she’s done, will start pitocin and the doctor decided to do an anmio-infusion to help the fluid level as well.
