Josh is finally asleep. He was so frantic for so long tonight because he was so stuffed up that he was really having to work to get air in, and couldn’t nurse because he couldn’t really breathe. We’d tried by syringe, but wasn’t nearly enough–he wanted to really nurse. Likely both hunger and for comfort.
So we prepared for what we didn’t really want to do: trying a bottle with pumped milk. But before that, the nurse tried a couple things to calm him, and one or a combo did it for the time being: a little vibrator under his bottom, swaddling him (interesting with all the wires and tubes), and a mint solution of some sort that acts kinda like menthol would to open the airways. And now he’s asleep.
As is JoAnn…and she needed it dearly.
