Subway’s BIG Mistake…
- by Scott
Subway is running a contest called Fresh Fit for Kids. But they made a BIG mistake. Two, actually.
The first, in the rules (emphasis mine):
2. ELIGIBILITY. Contest is open only to legal residents of the United States who are currently over the age of 18 and have children who attend elementary, private or parochial schools that serve grades PreK-6. No home schools will be accepted. Employees and members of their families of Scholastic and Subway, their parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, and their advertising, promotion and production agencies are not eligible to enter. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
Think of it this way: substitute ANY other group in there, and you’d have civil rights attorneys foaming at the mouth. Discrimination, no question. Despite the fact that home schooling is legal and proven effective (in general, but even more so when compared to public schools).
Anyway, the second mistake is ironically funny. Go to the link (or in case they change it, a screenshot is below)…they spelled “basket” wrong under the Grand Prize Winner section.
I smell something, but it’s no longer their fresh-baked bread. It’s a boycott coming on. In the meantime, there is an online petition.
UPDATE: In the footer of the main page, they have spelled United States wrong: “Untied States”. I’m guessing a public school student or maybe state college.

I blogged about this, signed the petition to boycott, and sent an email to Subway. I think I may still have my kiddos write a story to enter…. What do you think? You have to tell me about your interview… Are you going to do it?
Never mind… I just saw your tweet. 🙂
