Giving Thanks…

Today we celebrate Thanksgiving…a holiday whose intent is to help remind us to be thankful for what we have, and how fortunate we are to live where we live. The thing is, we need that reminder for a reason. The American culture has become so consumed with…pardon the pun…consumerism that we so often forget to be thankful because we’re too busy worrying about getting the things we think we need instead of the things that matter.

More importantly, we forget to show our thankfulness to the One who is more deserving of it than anyone or anything else.

11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.

12 Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.

13 Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name.
