Mrs. Renfro's

One of the recent Christmas traditions has been for some form of hot sauce to end up in my stocking. I like hot sauce…at one point, we had 13 different kinds.

But this year, Mrs. Renfro’s Ghost Pepper Salsa made its appearance. While technically not a hot sauce, it’s close enough…especially since the kids picked it out.

I’d actually never heard of a Ghost Pepper, but quickly looked it up. Besides having a cool name, it’s really hot. From 2007 until 2012, was listed by Guinness as the world’s hottest. So it packs some heat.

But how’s the salsa? While it does pack some heat, it’s got some really good flavor too. And actually, I’d go so far as to say that it’s my second favorite at this point. The heat is excellent, but isn’t overbearing, nor does it overpower the food.  It’s definitely worth checking out.

  • I have not reviewed this one yet, but now it is on my list. My family and I grow the super hot peppers like ghost peppers, carolina reapers, moruga scorpions and others for a living. Not much gardening going on here in Kentucky during the winter, so we have taken to reviewing hot sauces, salsa and other hot pepper products. My son (8) doesnt trust even the mildest products, but he is not much for anything that doesnt contain the word pizza. My daughter (10) is all about the hot as long as it is not beyond her limit.
