During the 17+ hour period yesterday where Josh couldn’t nurse, JoAnn became engorged and milk ducts plugged despite pumping. Were concerned about infection, so the doctor requested a lactation consult. Simple enough, right? Found out later they couldn’t help her for 2 reasons:
1. She wasn’t the patient. [But was the food supply for the patient. And in current status, Josh’s hospitalization provides her with meals…]
2. She had insurance. [Now that one struck us as ironic…]
As it turned out, we got to the point that he could nurse, and un-clogged.
