Scrabble, Pirates, and a Cold Shower

Yesterday we went to Mercer Island for a pirate festival. Very nice day, sunny, warm (ok, somewhat hot for here). The kids had a good time and loved the pirates (and I decided that if there were more wenches like some there, I may become a pirate. And not the digital kind, ’cause of lawsuits and such, whereas with being a real pirate, you can just blow things up as needed…) Ok, so I’m kidding. Mostly.

Cold shower had nothing to do with that, though…because I got a bit sunburned, and have used quite a bit of aloe since we got home. And played Scrabble. And that’s where things REALLY went wrong. The background is this: in the nearly 10 years we’ve been married, JoAnn’s won ONCE. Her and Mika sort of beat Sammy and me. Not a complete win, because I forfeited the game. I was in pain, tired, and losing. Not a good triad.

So we tried again Sunday. For almost all the game, I led like I normally do. But I finished my tiles when JoAnn still had quite a few. I lost again, by 5…when I normally win by like 50.

[This post has nothing to do with Al Gore or gorehub.com, nor do I support Al Gore, except in supporting his statement about never running for President again. But thanks for the traffic…]
