And There Are Still Good People…

A few weeks ago Mika decided she wanted to do a yard sale to raise money for World Vision. (We’ve sponsored a girl from Malawi the past four years). Despite having already decided we weren’t doing a yard sale this year, we did. Today.
Aside from the whole decluttering aspect, there were a few things that happened that were really neat: an elderly couple that stopped by but didn’t buy anything donated $20; another couple later in the day donated $50; and the parents of a neighbor down the street donated $10. We actually made more in donations than yard sale sales. Our total, while not overly impressive in and of itself, was $148.30. But it IS enough for our goal of being able to buy a goat (nourishes a family with fresh milk, cheese, and yogurt, and can offer a much-needed income boost by providing offspring and extra dairy products) and the remainder to the Maximum Impact Fund (helps in specific, urgent needs that might otherwise go unmet).

That is soooo cool – congratulations on raising that much!
