VMWare Server on Ubuntu

Last week after my re-do of my laptop to change paritioning and correct some issues I’d created, I suddenly could not get KVM/Qemu working to recreate my XP virtual machine. I installed exactly the same, but no dice–something had changed. Posted to forums, but hadn’t gotten any response.

So in looking for solutions, came across what turned out to be some of the best instructions I’ve come across: installing VMWare Server (free!) on Ubuntu (free!). The instructions were completely accurate, easy to understand and follow, and best of all (and most importantly), worked perfectly.
