Governing According to The Princess Bride
- by Scott
A few of us on twitter were doing a Princess Bride quote session earlier this week, and I struck gold on something: the movie covers everything needed to properly govern (using only quotes from the movie), and should be required reading for all government officials. Here’s a few examples:
Foreign Policy: You mean you wish to surrender to me? Very well, I accept.
Foreign Policy: I’ve hired you to help me start a war. It’s an prestigious line of work, with a long and glorious tradition
Education Policy: I challenge you to a battle of wits.
Health Care Policy: I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder.
Amendment to health care policy: Get some rest. If you haven’t got your health, then you haven’t got anything.
Domestic Policy: Let’s drink. Me from my glass, and you from yours. [that’s the libertarian in me coming out]
Financial Policy: How much do you have? 5? I’ve never worked for so little. ..
Justice or Health Care Policy: I hate for people to die embarrassed.
Got any others you’d like to add? Leave a comment…

That was so much fun, wasn't it 🙂 Glad to see my financial policy quote made the cut.
Diplomacy: You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.Health care: I do not envy you the headache you will have when you awake. In the meantime, rest well and dream of large women.Education policy: I have just taken one year of your life away. I might one day go as high as five, but I really don't know what that might do to do, so let's just go with what we have. Tell me, how do you feel? And remember, this is for posterity so, please, be honest. AAAUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!Justice policy: Unless I am wrong—and I am never wrong…"Affordable" Healthcare for Everyone: Think it'll work? It would take a miracle!
