Why I Am So Messed Up Today…

(as opposed to any other day, that is…)

Let me preface this by saying that I rarely remember my dreams. But in the last couple of days that has apparently changed.

This morning about 2 or 3ish I woke from this dream:
We were all downstairs, with Josh playing in the living room area, and everyone else near the table in the dining room, or were upstairs initially. We heard some loud popping noises, which sounded like gunfire, but closer than we’ve heard before. (Yes, over the years we have heard, but normally blocks away…the area has gotten better in general, but there are still trouble spots).

Because of the sound, we came downstairs or near the dining room, when all of a sudden gunshots came in through the glass of our front door, shattering the glass and sending it flying through the blinds. I quickly moved the couch to an angle, and we dove behind it for protection. Except for Josh, who was between us and the door.

Gunfire was still coming through the door, and we couldn’t get to Josh, when I woke up.

I know it was just a dream, but it was far too realistic and really freaked me out and I couldn’t sleep.

Think it may be time for a nap now.

  1. I had a similar dream about my son when he was a baby. He was being suffocated by someone and I couldn't move to help him. I was too weak to lift a finger. All I could do was watch. It bothered me for a long time, but despite divorce and separation and life in general he is doing just fine today. He's now 20 years old and in his 2nd year in college. Man, life goes fast, and they grow up so quick. I turned my kids over to God several years back. Since they are in Ohio and I'm in GA now I really have no choice, but I did this even when we were together.
