Well, then…that was fun

You’ve noticed the changes, eh? Have you heard the story?
Short version: Google is actually staffed by robots, not real people. These robots don’t do a whole lot because there’s a ton of behind-the-scenes processes that take care of most everything. In this case, their spam detection system accidentally flagged a ton of blogger-based blogs and…deleted them. Was able to get email and login back easy and quick enough, but the blog was deleted.
Everything. Gone.
So, decided that was quite enough, and prepped a WordPress install, began initial setups, changed DNS, and waited for Google to restore the site. Once they did, exported it, converted it, and imported into this one. Ta-da.
More work in the upcoming days, so things will change…stay tuned.

Ah, the things we go through just to blog 🙂
It looks nice! Great job.
So Google did get all your posts back? How'd you go about getting them to do that?

Once I discovered the blog was deleted, found a related support forum where others were listing their info, so added mine and waited. Although not very patiently, since I set up the new hosting and transferred the site in the meantime. But then it popped up yesterday–without any reply on the forum–and I exported the posts and comments and brought 'em over!
Thanks, Scott! I'm hoping it never happens to me, but I wanted to know what kind of hoops I'm potentially going to have to jump through [smile].
