Bad Things Happen…

During this Journey in February, there will undoubtedly be other times when I write about things that have happened in my past. Some, like the first, will be quite dramatic.

The intent isn’t to draw attention to myself, but simply to tell the story and provide some of the information about the things that made me who I am. It’s not for pity. It’s not for attention. It’s not for fame or fortune (ha!).

The writing is a journey, as has been life (and as it continues to be). And in that journey, as in the journeys of most lives, bad things happen. That’s just the way things go…

For mine, I’ll say this: it’s a lot like Joseph addressing his brothers in Genesis 50:20…the things that happened in my past could have easily be meant for evil…but God meant it for good.

Was there pain? Heck yeah. But as a journey, that’s not the end, nor were those things in my life.

  1. I completely get where you are coming from. I think there's value in just putting it out there- no more secrets. I love that you have hope for what God was doing in your life. Its so easy to turn bitter and angry and miss the boat. While there's certainly room for anger, when it becomes your defining characteristic you end up paying for something that isn't yours to own, kwim? anyway, no pity or attention or any of that here!

  2. Good points Scott. I think anything overdone is too much. Too much talking about your life, too much talking about sport, too much talking about Tv…overdone and its too much. But little stories here and there about who you are, where you came from and how God brought you here…that's great.

This is off the subject, but I'm overly tiffed today. I told someone today that their posts come across as self righteous and he told me that its his blog and why do I keep questioning him. Isn't that what comments are for? It really ticked me off. This from a person who claims he is a "disciple". And apparently I'm beneath him because I didn't understand his criticism of denominations or how prideful he was. UGH. He said "This blog is for disciples of Jesus. So you don't have to read it." Wow. I gotta read blog that are less stupid. For real.
