Day 2 of No More Buying Coffee…
- by Scott
Today is Day 2 of No More Buying Coffee.
Why, you ask?
Well, you see, last Saturday morning, my rough and tumble Lenovo notebook died. Well, in tribute to The Princess Bride, it was only mostly dead. But the laptop is my lifeblood, so I need a replacement.
Another custom-configured Lenovo looked like it would take too long, so I ran to Best Buy to see what they had in stock. Yes, it was desperation. Ended up buying an HP Pavilion dm4 model–looked nice, great specs, good price.
But after a clean install of Windows 7 Pro (came with Home Premium) and my programs, and using it the past few days, I have to be blunt and say that not only do I not like it, I despise it. And after submitting a service ticket on it already to HP (which actually responded within an hour–kudos to them), I’ll be returning it to Best Buy for a refund. The only question now is regarding timeline–Lenovo has been ordered, and I have another week left on Best Buy’s return policy. And the Lenovo could be weeks.
The good news is that my old Lenovo appears thus far to be usable when not plugged in. Some slight flickering f the screen on occasion, but at least it works, even if limited. So I’ll probably just transfer data back over to it and take this piece of junk HP back tomorrow or Sunday.
But back to the question at hand…why the No Buying Coffee? Frankly, I need to pay for the Lenovo. This way just happens to also have the benefit of reducing my spending and my caffeine intake.
This doesn’t mean I won’t drink coffee, silly. I’m just not buying it. If someone else buys me a coffee, God bless ’em.
But I’m not buying.
