Proud Daddy…

Today I had a sit-down with Mika (she’s 11, btw) to tell her, very clearly and specifically, that I was very proud of her.
We have a relatively new neighbor whose kids are visiting for the summer. Her teenage daughter is autistic and according to her mother, functionally at about a 9-year old level. Today, since I was home with the kiddos (minus Sammy), I met her for the first time, and saw how Mika interacts with her and has befriended her. After we had lunch and once I got the littles down for naps, Mika went over and played with her for a while this afternoon too.
Though the girl is different in so many ways, Mika sees past all that, and treats her like any other kid. And it was really cool to see that…
