Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) To Announce Resignation

Representative Anthony Weiner, caught up in a recent whirlwind scandal involving pictures sent on Twitter, called a press conference Friday afternoon to announce his resignation. While downplaying the connection between his resignation and the scandal, he did admit that “it sure opened up a lot of doors”, and said “I sure didn’t realize that social media was nearly as big as it is, or how much of an impact one person–much less one tweet–can make.”

Speculation in Washington is that Rep. Weiner has accepted a position on the social media team of Oscar Meyer, soon to be joined by a famous but unnamed re-re-re-retired professional football player.  Responding to this speculation, he stated that he “could not say, with certitude, that the rumor is true. But seriously, who doesn’t like a Little Smokie every once in a while?”.
