I Am an Infidel…

Infidel

In light of the clearly pre-planned attacks on our embassies in Libya and Egypt on the anniversary of 9-11, I just want to make it clear that I am, and will remain, an infidel.

There are a myriad of reasons that I could list but won’t. And I don’t make this declaration to offend, but as a statement against some of the events in the world in recent years.

However, there is one facet that I do want to delve into…one that I’m not sure I’ve read before, but a reason why I will always be an infidel.

The Old Testament is replete with prophecies about the coming Messiah, and as a Christian, I believe *all* of them have been fulfilled in the person of Jesus. But one thing is clear throughout Scripture: salvation would come to the Gentiles through the Jews, by way of an heir to David’s throne…that is, a descendant of David.  Which in turn would mean a descendant of Isaac. Not of Ishmael, who is the ancestor of the Arab people, including Muhammad, the founder of Islam.

Salvation, even for the descendants of Ishmael, would come through the Jews.  Anything else is outside Scripture.

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.  Joshua 24:15

Even if that makes me an infidel. Because that is a title I will wear with honor. I am kafir. I am كافر.
